City of St. Paul - Tropical Encounters Exhibit Como Park Zoo and Conservatory
The work included the completion of the Tropic Encounters Exhibit within an addition built as part of a previous Visitor Center project. The exhibit included a 10,000 gallon tank for displaying river fish, a new river ray and turtle stream and exhibit for an anaconda snake. Associated with the wet exhibits was the construction of a 15,000 gallon backwash reservoir tank and filtration system.
In addition to the wet exhibits there was, rockwork, tropical plants, pavers on sand walkway, path lighting and construction of a bamboo and thatch river shelter.
The animal exhibits include all of the life support systems. These include sand filters with recovered backwash and filtration for water conservation, heat exchanger and ozone generators.
