Rochester Public Works & Transit Operations Center

Location: Rochester, MN
CPMI was honored to attend the Grand Opening of the Rochester Public Works & Transit Operations Center. CPMI provided Owner’s Representative Services for the past four years. We were involved with this project from initial stages through occupancy. CPMI was on site full time during construction and provided financial tracking, change negotiations, meeting minutes, field observations, quality control review, punch list and close-out coordination.
The Rochester Public Works and Transit Operations Center is a $42 million combined facility for the public works department and the privately-run transit operations. The complex consists of a main operations building with offices, a fleet parking garage, bus parking garage and adjacent vehicle repair bays, workshops, and storage areas. It also included separate buildings for wash and fuel operations, equipment storage and material storage along with all site pavements and ground covers. The HVAC includes a geothermal heating and cooling system, with a lake-plate system. The electrical power systems include several emergency generators and an extensive lighting control system. The site is surrounded by a security fence and has several security cameras to monitor the area.
The project was funded by federal funds, State of Minnesota GO bonds and City funding. Due to timing of federal grants, the project was constructed in 5 phases.
This project is an example of the long term relationship and expertise CPMI has on municipal projects. We have worked with the City of Rochester since 1995 on 11 projects and are currently working with them on a new fire station.
